2027 EURO PhD Summer School on MCDA/MCDM

Who should apply?
The PhD Summer School in MCDA/MCDM will bring together a select group of emerging researchers and distinguished scholars for an intensive academic program devoted to contemporary developments in multiple criteria decision analysis and decision making. The school is primarily addressed to Ph.D. candidates, while a limited number of outstanding Master’s students and early-career researchers may also be admitted. Participation will be restricted to 50 attendees, ensuring a highly interactive and intellectually engaging environment.
The scientific program will combine advanced lectures, expert-led workshops, methodological discussions, and practical sessions focused on the analysis of complex decision problems. Participants will be introduced to recent advances in MCDA/MCDM, innovative modelling approaches, and modern computational tools supporting decision processes across a broad range of application areas. Particular attention will be given to bridging methodological foundations with real-world implementation, enabling participants to develop both conceptual understanding and practical expertise.
A defining feature of the summer school will be the opportunity for close academic exchange with internationally recognized experts in the field. Beyond the formal teaching program, participants will be encouraged to engage in substantive discussions, share research perspectives, and establish new professional connections. The event is designed to foster an international community of young researchers and to create a setting in which new ideas, research partnerships, and future collaborations can naturally emerge.
The summer school will be hosted by AGH University of Krakow, one of Poland’s foremost universities of science and technology and a leading centre of research, innovation, and advanced education. Situated in Krakow, a city renowned for its centuries-old academic tradition, exceptional cultural heritage, and dynamic international environment, AGH provides an outstanding setting for an event combining scientific excellence with meaningful intellectual and cultural exchange.
The academic agenda will be complemented by a carefully designed social program, offering participants opportunities to experience Krakow, continue discussions in an informal setting, and strengthen the professional relationships established during the school. The combination of high-level scientific content, direct interaction with leading researchers, and a distinctive international atmosphere is intended to make the event a memorable and professionally valuable experience.
Financial support from EURO and the International Society on MCDM will help maintain participation costs at an accessible level. Subject to available resources, additional support may be offered to selected applicants with limited institutional funding, with particular consideration given to participants from countries where access to international academic mobility is more constrained.
